PROGRAMME
The groups will deal with the following issues::
- Conservation of biodiversity in Cieszyn
- the students get familiar with
natural monuments, species protected in natural reserves in the town of Cieszyn,
protection of genetic material- Istebna spruce seeds, sent to the World Seed
Bank, reintroduction of capercaillie (wood grouse) – an endangered species.
PROGRAMME: GROUP 1
- Waste utilisation in Cieszyn
– the students learn about prevention of the
environment contamination, utilization of saline water from saline water
swimming pools in Ustroń, waste segregation in Cieszyn. They visit a sewage
purification plant.
PROGRAMME: GROUP 2
- Beskidy woods condition
- during the ecological workshops in Forestry
Management in Ustroń students learn about woods condition, forestry
management in regard to pollution caused by the Třinec Iron and Steel Works and regional
heat and power plants.
PROGRAMME: GROUP 3
- Bioindicators
– the students make a map of pollution in Cieszyn and the area
using lichens as indicators of air pollution, compare the data with the Forestry
Management in Ustroń. The collected data will be then compared with the official data
from the website of the Silesian Institute of Environmental Protection.
PROGRAMME: GROUP 4
- Biogas as alternative source of energy
– the students produce biogas in
the school chemistry laboratory. They visit a modern installation for
biogas generation in the Institute in Grodziec.
PROGRAMME: GROUP 5
- Biofuels and Biofarm
– the students get familiar with the modern production of
organic food. They learn about the solution agriculture has for motorization,
using rapeseed oil for biofuel production.
